Cake Baking Competitions

Christmastime is when people go all out to have fun and spread good cheer. Most people try and spend time with those who matter most, especially the family. Come November and people start planning winter vacations or how to celebrate yuletide. Most people who don’t travel to other places for holidaying have fun in their own cities. Most destinations host their share of carnivals and festive extravaganzas. Christmas carnival games are common.

In fact organizers try and come up with unique and interesting things to attract people each year. We suggest you do something interesting this year. Why not organize on the spot cake baking competitions. Of course instant sponge cakes! The one to two hours of competition is sure to keep people riveted to your stall.

It could be real fun all your need do is arrange for three power points, three microwaves and basic ingredients for baking a sponge cake. Volunteers can be given a time of 2 to 3 hours to bake a cake. And of course the best one wins a prize!

Arranging for culinary competitions isn’t really that big a deal. In fact the whole thing can be great fun. While contestants are busy baking a group of entertainers can keep the crowd engaged with jokes and musical performances. You can even organize an on the spot quiz to keep people occupied while the cakes are being baked!

Christmas Wedding Cake Blues

If you aren’t as good at baking cakes as some of your friends are? You are sure to get Yuletide blues, especially when you come across people baking fancy stuff for family and friends. Cake making blues this time of the year are very natural. Here I will discuss about some common causes of cake failures you how to avoid some them.

Dry cake

There are many reasons for which cakes torn out to be dry. The most common reasons are using too much flour and overbeating egg whites. Other factors may be less amount of shortening, butter or sugar. Overbanking also leads to this type of cakes.

Thick, Heavy Crust

This type of cakes is due to excess amount of flour in the mixture, not sufficient sugar, shortening or butter. Baking for a long period time is also responsible for such cakes. So if you want to make delicious Jamaican Christmas cakes, you should be particular about the mixture. Right amount of ingredients should be used for making the mixture.

The Penguin Cake

If you plan to have a chocolate truffle cake this yuletide then explain exactly what you want to the cake baker and designer. The best way is to have a base with the penguin on top. Pure white sugar icing on the base helps create the perfect snow ambience. The penguin creates the mood for the right winter dinner dessert.

Chequered cake with Sleigh Bells

If you plan to have a simple fruitcake then you can add a dramatic twist to it with pure white snow icing. Use blue icing to mark clear checks on the white cake top. Get sugar sleigh bells and arrange them in a corner. Add silver sugar stars and edible silver glitter. Use thick red icing to shape little ribbon like bows and mark the edges.

The Gift Wrapped Box Cake

Cut a simple plum cake such that it looks like a square box. Use deep red icing to cover the entire cake. Bake a slightly larger square and place it atop the red box just as though it were the cover. Cover the entire top with white icing and use red icing to make giant polka dots. Use a real satin ribbon to gift wrap the cake once the icing is completely dry. The idea is to make it look like a real gift box.

Funny Christmas verses for cards

There once was an elf named Fred

There once was an elf named Fred
Whose house was of gingerbread.
Though tasty, these walls
dissolved in snowfalls
And also made crumbs in Fred's bed!
There once was an elf named Fred

Note – It is a short and cute poem that can be written on greetings cards. The poem is ideal for writing on cards meant for kids and youths as the lyrics of the poem is easy to understand

All I want for Christmas is some Prada

All I want for Christmas is some Prada.
Not an imitation, just some Prada.
I told mum that nothing else would do.
There's loads of designs, so she can have some too.
I don't care which ever gifts she gets me.
Handbags, Shoes, clothes, they're all the same.
I can't wait for Christmas day to come
'Cause all I want for Christmas is some Prada.

All I want for Christmas is some Prada

Note- Though the poem can be written on cards meant for parents. Given the celebratory mood, it is unlikely that any parent will turn down this request from their child.

Christmas is Coming

Christmas is coming,
The geese are getting fat,
Please put a penny
In the old man's hat.
If you haven't got a penny,
A ha'penny will do,
If you haven't got a ha'penny,
Then God bless you.
Christmas is coming,
The geese are getting fat,
Please put a penny
In the old man's hat.
If you haven't got a penny,
A ha'penny will do,
If you haven't got a ha'penny,
Then God bless you.
