Christmas Wedding Cake Blues

If you aren’t as good at baking cakes as some of your friends are? You are sure to get Yuletide blues, especially when you come across people baking fancy stuff for family and friends. Cake making blues this time of the year are very natural. Here I will discuss about some common causes of cake failures you how to avoid some them. 


Dry cake 


There are many reasons for which cakes torn out to be dry. The most common reasons are using too much flour and overbeating egg whites. Other factors may be less amount of shortening, butter or sugar. Overbanking also leads to this type of cakes.


Thick, Heavy Crust


This type of cakes is due to excess amount of flour in the mixture, not sufficient sugar, shortening or butter. Baking for a long period time is also responsible for such cakes. So if you want to make delicious Jamaican Christmas cakes, you should be particular about the mixture. Right amount of ingredients should be used for making the mixture.

If too less shortening, butter or sugar lead to dry cakes, use of excess amount of these ingredients will results in cake falling and coming apart. Too much leavening, under baking and not handling the cake gently while taking out of the oven are other reasons for such failure.
